Schadenfreude Curious Jack o' Lanterns

And more pumpkins to be found at Collabor88!  8 faces carved into pumpkins, each separate with the naturals option of 16 pumpkin options, mostly shades of oranges with a couple of speckled squashes, plus 10 shades of stems, and flames in 2 texture styles to light up the insides (a more realistic candle flame, and a fancier option).  The uberpack of all 8 also includes a lot more pumpkin options! in weirdo colors of ghost pumpkins, blue pumpkins, pastels, neons, desaturateds, dark and moodys, and a few pastel ombres; plus 5 colors of flame and light to light up your pumpkins, each in both flame options.  Find a treat bucket there now too- there are 13 to collect at events I'm currently in, in the elephant on the dresser, for group members of a few groups, and a few other places around.  Grab one and check the included notecard for all the locations!

The jack o' lanterns all light up with projector lights of their face, and also include non projector options that don't cast light but still "light" up.  (With the introduction of PBR, projection lights are becoming less optional and more always on- but they can still be too much for your environment and you may not want light cast, just the flame on and off and glow.)  Light is also editable on all- set inside tint (note: PBR and non PBR tint in different places, and that will not be carried over!) and glowing emissive color tint, flame tint, glow amounts, and light amounts (intensity, falloff, etc.) while it's lit, and it will be remembered (note: only some of these options will be remembered if you change a pumpkin with the HUD after setting anything, with the way it overwrites some things, so make your color selection first!  That was always the case before, but there are some other weirdnesses with the way it overwrites things with the way PBR works, more things are attached to the material instead of the object) when you turn it off and on again.

PBR and non PBR texture options, pick your preference with the HUD, fallback textures will change to match PBR choices for those not on PBR viewers.  As most (but not all!  Depends on what the thing is) of the time, PBR Metal and Roughness settings are also editable to some degree- you can make them a bit shinier (or less shiny) if that's your preference- I try to do as much adjustable in SL as I can, so it's as flexible as I can come up with so you don't have to like what I like!

You can also touch and hold for 5 seconds and set the access to only yourself as the owner, members of the active group the pumpkin is rezzed under, or everyone for who can turn them on and off on touch.

At Collabor88 until November 6.

Pumpkins

I keep returning to my Jack o'Lanterns.  One of these days, I'll carve new ones, but I kind of like the faces of that 6, so when something new comes along, they eventually get updated.  This time it's a big update- mesh!  They've been totally rebuilt to be more streamlined, 1 prims and 1 Land Impact each at a reasonable pumpkin size (I made some a bit large around the Starlust, and they're still all only 1LI each), and they also come with 6 uncarved pumpkins now, and there are more colours.

Like, lots more colours, because I'm crazy.  There are, of course, a selection of oranges to mix, white Luminas and blue-grey Jarrahdales, a couple of speckled more gourd types, a variety of solid colours not seen in nature, and greyscale desaturated for those who shun colour.  Most of them come with 2 options, all 12 pumpkins included with both, 3 packs (2 of orange shades and the desaturated) come with 3 texture options with all 12 pumpkins in each.  There's also a scripted uberpack of all 23 textures, that lets you change the inside to either traditional orange or tintable white (which the desaturated pack has) that will change light colour to what to tint the inside to when lit.  Materials enabled with a soft sheen to the skin, and they use projector lights, so they cast their faces on anyone or anything in front of them.

Pumpkins are out in the elephant!

And yes, you do spy with your little eye a treat bucket in there.  This year's treat bucket is finally out (I'm always kind of late!)- swing by the elephant and touch the treat bucket on the coffee table to get one of your own.  Then click click click your bucket and encourage others to do the same!

Jack o' Lanterns return

A couple of years back, I made some jack o' lanterns. This year, I got the overwhelming urge to add in projector lights- if you have a viewer with the v2 lighting system, turn on shadows with projectors, you can see the pumpkins cast light of their faces in front of them. (And also I finally caved to my desire to make a bunch of greyscale ones for the elephant.)

The packs are at the elephant.

The transfer ones are scattered around the sim, so you'll have to find the one you want to take it home!

Jack o' Lanterns

A couple of years ago, I made jack o' lanterns in SL. They lit up with flicker units (they emit light...which flickers in intensity, as candles do), and they used traditional prims. I am still rather fond of them, and there are still a few clustered around one leg of the elephant.

However, this year, I played with sculpting. I swore a lot, because, as I have a tendency to do, I wanted to do something that wasn't reeeeally suited to the way SL works currently, and I had to struggle a little with finding ways to unbreak the things that SL breaks.

They come in two different versions, a low prim (only weighing in at one prim each), and a "deluxe" 3 prim version. Most of the pictures are of the 3 prim, but here's a low prim, in the wacky blue:

Both styles have the same selection of 6 faces, and 6 colours (2 shades of orange, orange tinged with green, white, jarrahdale grey-blue, and bright unnatural blue for fun above). The single prim pumpkins are always lit, bright yellow light peering out of carved holes, bright and flickering.

The three prim versions are a bit more complicated. For starters, the 3 prim construction allows for actually hollow pumpkins, you can look through the inset carved holes to see the interior of the pumpkin and candle within. The owner can also choose settings for the pumpkin on touch- you can extinguish the candle, leaving the pumpkin dark, with a black wicked candle, or you can light it, with the candle aflame. You can also choose lighting settings, which will remember their settings until the pumpkin is rerezed, or changes owners- the interior can softly glow, the exterior can be set to full bright or be effected by regular lighting, and you can either leave the flicker unit on or have them steadily emit non flickering light. I fear my gimpy computer refuses to show you the glow on the lit pumpkins, as apparently, even though SOMETIMES I can use shaders, right now I'm locked out because SL is "helpful" and locks out hardware it doesn't think should have things.

The pumpkins are currently arrayed all over the mountain upon which the elephant stands, you can choose the most sincere pumpkin to take home with you directly off the lot. Fatpacks that include copiable pumpkins in both styles, packaged in sets of 2 colours, are also available.
