The treat bucket this year is a spider, sorry arachnophobes.  On the bright side, it's a jumping spider, the most ridiculously kawaii cutie pie type of spider.  As in other recent years, I've gone overboard with colour variants, and there are 13 treat buckets to collect.  Most entirely free! and a few require group membership.

The basic orange bucket can be found in the elephant, on the dresser!  Just walk right on up those stairs, touch the bucket, and get your own to carry around!  Next to the spider bucket there is a group gift for my group from my region-mate *katat0nik*- this cute outfit in green.  There's a pink version for her own groupies. 

If you are a member of the Schadenfreude Enterprises group, you can get not only this skirt and sweater set in green, but you can also get a green and purple bucket.  Wear your tag and follow the little elephant down to the secret room of secrets.

If you are a member of the *katat0nik* group, you can get the outfit in pink, and hunt for a pink spider bucket!  It's in plain sight, in or around her shop.

If you are a member of the ~silentsparrow~ twittery birds group, you can get a bloo spidery bucket.  Again, in plain sight, inside her house.  Even though hya is mostly out of SL now, it's a tradition!

If you are a member of the (free!) I <3 The Starlust group, you can get a purple and green spidery bucket, in the trailer in the center-ish of Nouveau.

Buckets live at events as well!  Find a bucket at Shop & Hop, one at FLF-o-Ween, one at Collabor88, one at Anthology, and one at Hallow Manor.  Once those events close, those buckets will go away!  I tend to leave last year's bucket out until the next bucket replaces it everywhere else, but those are short term buckets!

My Linden Home is one of those little campers, and there is a bucket there.  Also overlooking scenic Leech Lake, there is a bucket right next door, just walk through the bushes, to my neighbor's camper, hya has a little art studio next to mine.

And on Chartreuse, the little mainland plot with our ridiculous Baba Yaga (Bloo Yaga?) house, holds the last bucket of the year.

Schadenfreude Demon Skull Candle

It's that time again!  Time for Hallow Manor!  I have, uh, "acquired" a skull through "means" and keep a candle on it.  No reason.  Not for summoning others of the type or anything like that, certainly not.  2 shades of bone for the skulls, 24 colours of wax candles to choose from, and two styles of flames- the prim flame is more like older candles, with an optional shine effect, and the texture flame is like the pumpkins, with 2 flame styles and 5 colour options of each with matching cast light colours.  Optional cast light, and modify the lighting and flames to your choice of settings while lit, and they will remember and save your settings for the next time they are extinguished and relit.  Set access for lighting and extinguishing candles (everyone, group, or just you) if you please by touching and holding for 5 seconds until the access menu pops up.

And, it wouldn't be Hallow Manor without a hunt!  This time it's a more traditional hunt, search around for teeeny tiny hunt objects, and buy for 10L.  My hunt prize is a batty boba cup, with 6 flavors of boba and colors of bat plastic top and matching cardboard sleeve.  Hold in left or right hand.

Schadenfreude Jeepers Creepers Drinks

The spooky season approaches, so I'm starting to garnish my drinks appropriately at Anthology.  A classic martini and a shot, with eyeballs.  They, uh, might be extra dirty and full of vitreous humor in there.  8 eye colors to choose from with HUD, 5 drink flavors, PBR with fallback or choose non PBR textures even in a PBR viewer.  (I'm working my way into 2 variations of PBR glass- one that goes all in for those who have their environment all sorted out, and one that has a bit more oomph to it baked in, as PBR is disappointing if you don't have everything just so.)

I went to this izakaya with a friend (who amusingly hates seafood, whereas if it comes from the sea I'm into it- except, ironically, the fish eyes, I'm not as into that, or the bones, generally) and had an oyster shot half on a dare (it was good though), so yes, you can drink that eyeball.  Hold it in left or right hand, drink it in left or right hand, swallowing the eyeball on your first drink or keeping it in your glass so you can keep showing it off.  Rezzable versions as well- just decor, and givers for your guests so they can swallow that eyeball too.

And of course the traditional eyeball martini, with the olives replaced by eyeballs.  3 variations on martini, 2 with cocktail sticks that can either be wood or metal with skull heads.  Hold or drink these in your left or right hand as well, or rez them as just decor or givers for your guests so they can lurk around your party holding a martini too.

Schadenfreude Love Hearts/Hate Hearts Cocoa and Pancakes

Adore&Abhor has been back in SL for a year now, and to celebrate she's invited a few friends!  To take the store name quite literally- sweet treats with messages of adoration for you on the Love Hearts, and, well, those that abhor you on the Hate hearts, from me at the anniversary event.

Hold pieces in your hands, drink the cocoa, hold a fork with pancakes, 1 LI each piece to rez with cocoa and pancake fork givers.  Candy colors and sayings will randomize when rezzed, so they won't always be the same.

Schadenfreude Kitsune Sake Barrels

A new release at APPARE! before it's over- a kitsune (fox) themed 菰樽/飾り樽 sake barrel set- stacks and single barrels, 1 to 2 LI each at about a standard 4-to 72 liter size of about .65 meters tall barrel, with extra shading options to choose from if you are picky in how you stack!  (There are versions of top and side shadow boxed so you can stack them on top of each other or next to each other and keep the shading they have in the particular stacks also.)  HUD texture all to your desires- set them all the same, choose individual labels to texture to exactly what you want, or let it randomize them for you with the mix button.  You can also mix HUDs from other sake barrel sets for more options, even in the same stack.

APPARE! is also full of great things to see if you venture beyond the center shopping area- I highly recommend setting some time out to wander through the entire venue, it's so much fun!

Surf's Up at Collabor88, and I've brought some boards.  Traditional fish surfboards, short boards with the cut out tail, are versatile little boards, in a cute shape!

Schadenfreude Ace of Whiskey

While you're gambling with Lady Luck at Collabor88, have a drink.  Ace of Whiskey bottles, choose your suit, in sealed, open, and empty bottles, or a roulette tray with a bottle and some glasses.  Dispensers give glasses of whiskey on the rocks (well, technically one big sphere ice rock!) to drink to anyone, plus of course a drink for you- you can also choose to carry around trays, empty and with a bottle and glasses, or each suit cocktail stick in either hand.  To round out decor pieces (all holdables also come in non holding decor options), there are extra empty glasses and glasses with the cocktail sticks.

Texture change- Ace of Whiskey comes in all 4 suits (the seal on top matches the suit, red for hearts and diamonds, black for spades and clubs), the roulette tray comes in European and American roulette wheels (American roulette has the extra double 0 for a balanced green on each side, and an even number of slots- but the odds are worse for those playing with the 00 than in European roulette!), and the cocktail sticks come in red and black, all gold, all silver, and gold and silver mixed (red suits = gold, black suits = silver).  And, of course, my endless not always quite happy with PBR continues- PBR and Blinn-Phong versions of all parts, including the glass.  Test out both in your area to see if your environment is detailed enough to do all the heavy lifting for PBR's texture options.

Schadenfreude Fruityger Jelly Fruit

The light filled transluscence of Frutiger Aero, but make it fruity-er: some jelly desserts in fruit shapes, for Collabor88!  Hold a plate with a jelly in your left hand, hold a spoon full of jelly in either hand, includes versions that will give spoons of jelly to your guests.  Rez pieces are 1 LI each, 11 colors of jelly for each fruit.  PBR with fallbacks- with mobile viewer now, fallbacks are even more necessary now- or choose non PBR versions entirely even on a PBR viewer if you prefer.

Schadenfreude Midnight Pizza Party

What's a sleepover without pizza?  Get deliver from Midnight Pizza for your Slumber Party at Collabor88!  Pizza inspired by the skies, all with glowing stars floating above them except for The Moon, which is made of cheese.  With the Uberpack, choose stars or no stars with any flavor of pizza.  Pair it with a soda, delivered with star shaped ice cubes.  All pieces have a HUD to choose from 8 color options with the logo on the box or cup.

Hold a slice of pizza in your right hand, hold and drink the soda in your left, and rez a whole bunch of decor options at 1 LI each piece- empty pizza boxes, open and closed; full pizzas and with pieces removed or being removed or just a singular piece left, in boxes and not in boxes with 2 positions for each piece being removed; paper cups full of soda.  "Take Slice" pieces will hide and show a piece removed from the pizza when touched.

Schadenfreude Lovetini and Temple of Love

Romantic red drinks for Collabor88, garnished with SweetHearts of chocolate bonbons.  The Temple of Love is a twist on the traditional Shirley Temple, with a long cocktail arrow cocktail stick and a chocolate heart instead of cherries.  The Lovetini has also seen the addition of some grenadine for a sweeter and redder martini, with the olives replaced by a chocolate heart.

Both can be held in left or right hand, the Lovetini can be drunk held in either hand, the Temple of Love only works for drinking in the right hand (that straw's a bit too awkward for the left!).  Rezzable versions include dispensers that will give drinks to your guests.  There's a bonus rezzable version of the Temple of Love with particle bubbles- they are soothing to watch with their timing and motion, but don't work when moving due to limitations of SL's particle system.

PBR textures with fallbacks, also Blinn-Phong (old style) textures included.  The fallbacks are slightly different than the full Blinn-Phong versions, though the difference is subtle (again this is partly due to SL limitations).

It's a prom round, so I am joined in my booth by a special guest- get a sweet makeover from Adore&Abhor.

Schadenfreude Mini Skull Bowl with Heart Candies

Shop & Hop is back for Valentines, and for this romantic season I give you the gift of...skulls...full of candy?  Heart shaped candies with sayings, a bowl of sweet Love Hearts and a bowl of less sweet Hate Hearts.  As usual, free gifts at every store, and everything else is on sale!

Schadenfreude Snake Statue Pair and Snow Snakes

Japonica has an extension for its last days, it will be open until the end of the month.  I've added a few more things in celebration of this extra time!

These snake statues are something I'd been vaguely planning on for the Year of the Snake (I don't get all of my yearly projects done, ever!  Usually I aim for the statues in the middle of the year because I know I won't get everything done by the beginning...but I've only succeeded once before with the cows!), and since we got extra time, I finished them up (I was trying to finish them up to release mid event, but man, PBR adds a lot of time to the entire process).  Texture change with four stone types, each with snowy and mossy options as well as just stone, the statues are a matched pair on top of pillars, just the stone snakes, and just the individual pillars.  There are unique textures for left and right- but you can secretly use the textures from the opposite side by switch the "l" and "r" at the end of the names (tell it it's left, and it'll use the left textures, tell it it's right, it'll use the right textures!), the textures will be flipped in the opposite direction on the other side (including the pillars).  It's not a bad idea for bandwidth and speedier textures, but it might be something you notice, so I've left the choice up to you!  Optional PBR and fallback textures for all options.

And there are two more gifts!  There is a souvenir Daruma for Japonica, and these snow snakes!  Piles of snow sort of made snake shaped-ish, also a matched pair like the statues.

The Cone of Shame, in animal lamp form, for this Uniquely Ugly Collabor88.  The theme was difficult- very much the sort of thing that I love, and the more I think about, the less I understand why anyone would think was "ugly" to begin with, so deciding on a thing was next to impossible!

19 bright and pop-y plastics to choose from, touch on and off (touch and hold for 5 seconds to set an access list to limit who can turn it on and off, if you need such a thing, to limit to just you, members of the group it is set to, or anyone).  Mirrored version included so you have both sides to face any direction you need.  There is a projector light on the basic version- it's a separate prim linked in there (sort of hard to find, made as little as possible to keep it out of the way!)- that casts the circular light out of the shade, and there's a soft glow on the lamp itself.  The (no cast light) versions do not have those light sources, so they will not conflict with your lighting scheme, but will light up the bulb and glow the shade.  Light is editable- edit while on to set the light color by changing the color of the bulb in Blinn-Phong texture space (it's accessible to everyone!), then touch it twice to turn off and on and it'll set allll the light bits.  You can also edit the radius, intensity, etc. by editing the light sources- they will remember all settings when turned off and back on, so if you need more or less light!

1 LI each lamp, all include optional PBR textures with fallbacks (you can choose PBR with fallback textures, or to use the Blinn-Phong style textures in a PBR viewer).  The lightbulb and metal fixture are both set to PBR, but you can remove the PBR texture to uncover the fallback textures in non PBR versions if you desire (they are less reactionary to the environment without PBR- PBR glass is pretty great though, when it works, and this time it actually works).  Remember to do that in a copy!

Happy New Year!

I'm a little late on saying anything about this- Katakana Shrine is welcoming people for the New Year, as it does.  I've already been on my first shrine visit of the year, as well as traveling the entire Goshuin Project for New Year 2025 (see my travels on tumblr) to prepare for this Year of the Snake.  But, as I do, I've also set out a few free gifts at Katakana Shrine to go alongside the gifts and lucky boards that feature in the new year celebrations.
